Top pick: #9 (ARTEMUS PAPERBOY) (8-5) - He's racing second off a Dave Jacobson claim, and 4-year-old ran evenly here Sept. 6 when facing tougher in his first for the new barn. That effort came off a 7-week break and the leading trainer at this young meet brings him back quickly and drips him back down to the purchase price. He gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #1 (Invasion Point) (5-2) - Speedy and lightly-raced, he takes a big drop in price, moves from turf to dirt, and shortens up a furlong. Gelding has the rail and it's duly noted that Castellano is aboard for the first time. A strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Royalty Reigns) (6-1) - Gelding hasn't shown much in two starts, but both have been facing tougher. Good mid-sized barn (Gary Gullo) drops his price in half, cuts him back in distance, and switches him from turf to dirt. If he has any ability he should show it in this spot.
4th pick: #6 (Wishnandaprayer) (6-1) - One of three making their debuts, gelding was initially prepared off site and has a pair of sharp works since coming trackside. In the barn of veteran Carlos Martin and he need not be anything special to factor against these first out.
