Top pick: #4 (CALI STAR) (2-1) - The morning line favorite, daughter of "Street Cry" has finished second in three of her last four starts. Home bred raced both wide and evenly at Saratoga going 1 1/8th mils Aug. 1 in her first back from a 7-week freshening and trainer Bill Mott has worked her four times since. She meets a weak field for the level and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #7 (Sun and Moon) (6-1) - Stalker stretches out after a second-place finish at this level going 6-furlongs at Saratoga Aug. 14. It was her first start in almost 4 1/2 months and filly has now checked in second in five of her last six outings. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #1 (Candy Portena) (20-1) - Longshot has gone 9-0-2-2 when racing on the dirt and comes off an even effort at Saratoga, going 7-furlongs on Aug. 2. She checked in 5th of 10, beaten ten lengths that day facing a much tougher field than this. Can factor at a big price.
4th pick: #3 (Roundnroundwego) (15-1) - Lightly-raced and well bred, she's been on the sidelines since June 28th when she rallied to finish third when racing at this level in a two-turn mile contest at Monmouth Park. Daughter of "Elusive Quality" had a tough outside post that day and was forced into a very wide trip. Working well locally and a threat at long odds.
