He did not break cleanly, but did well to finish third of nine, beaten 3 1/2 lengths. He's worked three times since and gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #5 (Fish Trappe Road) (8-5) - Grey colt tired after chasing a quick pace from an outside post at Saratoga Aug 19. He ran into a very impressive first-time-starter that day after having finished second in his previous start. He has off track experience, stretches out in distance, and his blinkers come off after a one race experiment.
3rd pick: #4 (Benny and Alex) (6-1) - NEW gelding ships up from Monmouth where he finished 3rd of 11, beaten just under 3-lengths facing 'open' company Aug 23. He showed early speed that day and stayed on well. In with fellow New York breds today, he should factor at a square price.
4th pick: #3 (Hangry) (15-1) - Long shot is another coming north from Monmouth. He rallied to finish fourth when debuting there facing 'open' company for a $40K tag Aug 29. Colt by 'Macho Uno' was bumped at the start that day and it's noted that he was bet down to 5-2.
