Top pick: #7 (WINNING TOUCH) (2-1) - Last year's leading owner in the United States (Midwest Thoroughbreds) has a local division trained by Laura Perillo, and she's been picking up some momentum of late. This well-bred 6yo is lightly raced and was claimed by Perillo at Saratoga on Aug. 5th for $20K. Speedy sort is nicely spotted in his first for the new barn and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (Mr. Style) (5-2) - He's one of two entered by trainer Dave Jacobson, and the pair race uncoupled. Speed/stalker has gone 2-1-1-0 here at this level since being claimed by Jacobson on Aug. 14th at Saratoga, and will be in this from start-to-finish.
3rd pick: #9 (Say Mr Sandman) (8-1) - Finger Lakes shipper runs third off a 7 1/2 month layoff, and showed considerable improvement in his second off the long break. Fits nicely with these, draws a fine outside post, and he won his only previous start on this surface.
4th pick: #4 (St Liam's Halo) (4-1) - Veteran is the second of the Jacobson pair, and was a stakes winner earlier in his career. Gelding runs second off a claim, and last out finished an even third, 3 1/2 lengths back of "Mr Style." He needs a fast and/or contested pace for his best.
