Top pick: #4 (CASTELLANI) (2-1) - She's one of two entered in this small field by trainer Chris Clement and the pair race uncoupled. Lightly-raced, she enters off a solid second-place finish at Keeneland at this level April 25th. A career best overall, she was involved that day from start-to-finish. Gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #7 (Ansible) (7-2) - The second of the Clement pair, she raced evenly in her debut at Gulfstream March 15th. Grey daughter of 'Street Sense' had some traffic issues at the start in a large field and was only beaten 4 1/2 lengths. Barn is always better second time out (23%) and this 3-year-old is bred to love this longer distance.
3rd pick: #2 (Magical Empire) (5-1) - Four-year-old has early speed and was competitive in two of three on the Gulfstream turf this past winter. Working well since shipping north, she should be involved from start-to-finish.
4th pick: #3 (Bishop's Pond) (5-2) - No-speed type has rallied to finish third in two of her last three outings. Daughter of 'Curlin' should love this longer trip, but will be over-bet and holds no real advantage.
