Top pick: #10 (BIG JOHN B) - Improving colt by "Hard Spun" has been competitive in three straight appearances since trainer Mike Maker dropped him back into maiden claimers. Latest effort saw him miss by a nose at Aqueduct racing at this price tag and he's come back with a bullet half-mile breeze here on May 5th. Dominguez stays aboard and this 3-year-old looks very tough.
2nd pick: #8 (Dendrite) - Price play chased and tired facing tougher April 14th, but had finished a close-up third in his previous effort. Runs third off a 100-day break and trainer Dave Donk will drop him into a claimer and remove his blinkers after a one race experiment. The only other time he ran for a "tag" he finished second last November.
3rd pick: #11 (Balance the Budget) - He's on the also-eligible list and need one scratch in the main-body to compete. Fits at the price and distance and on March 7th at Gulfstream Park he finished third, 1 1/2 lengths back of "John". Dangerous if he gets to run.
4th pick: #3 (Super Saturday) - Grey gelding raced evenly April 19th in the same race as "John" and was 8 lengths back of him on the wire. Race was his first in 100 days and he runs today without blinkers for the first time.
