Top pick: #6 (INDIAN BRUT) (9-2) - He's one of several promising runners entered who still have room for upside. Home bred by 'Indian Charlie' has been freshened up since March 15th when he set a swift pace and held to finish third when facing similar. Competitive in ever start 5-1-2-2, he has local experience and is working fast.
2nd pick: #3 (Speighster) (3-1) - WinStar home bred made quite an impression when debuting at Keeneland going 7-furlongs April 17th. He broke sharply, rated just off the pace, swept to the lead when asked, then drew away to win by 7-lengths. The figure earned was very lofty for a first-time starter and he's been working fast since. Obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Energetico) (8-1) - Veteran has gone 3-1-2-0 since coming off a 2 1/2 month layoff in early February. Consistent speed/stalker fits and will be a square price.
4th pick: #8 (S'maverlous) (20-1) - Long shot was an easy winner at Aqueduct facing weaker April 24th. He earned a career best figure and was claimed that afternoon for $25K by Rudy Rodriguez. New barn wins at a 32% rate first off the claim and this strong finisher should get a fast and/or contested pace to close into.
