It was his first start in 11 months and he lost all chance when he stumbled badly at the break. Much improved since switching to the grass and he gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #2 (Mathematician) (7-2) - Three-year-old has been competitive in four straight at this level on the grass. He rallied to finish third here at this level and distance May 6 and was 1.5 lengths in front of 'Into the Breach'. It earned him the highest figure any in this contest has reached and 3-year-old is an obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #8 (Steeles Run) (9-2) - Grey son of 'Tapit' ships from Gulfstream where he missed by a length when debuting there at this level going a mile April 21. He worked a solid half-mile here May 31 and trainer Todd Pletcher (34% second time out) has Javier Castellano aboard.
4th pick: #7 (Captain Hardship) (10-1) - Gelding ships from Laurel where he missed by a 'head' going 8.5 furlongs at this level May 5. Longshot was racing off a 5.5 month layoff and can grab a share with a bit of improvement.
5th pick: #3 (Wicked Trick) (8-1) - The main speed, he missed by a 'neck' at this level April 26 at Keeneland. Three-year-old set a solid pace that afternoon and was caught in the last few strides. Long shot will take them as far as he can at a square price.
