Top pick: #7 (QUALITY ROAD) - There are really only two speed horses signed-on and this lightly-raced colt is much better than "Tizway". Can stalk that one and go by him hitting the turn, open up and hold off the cavalry. His race in the Travers (G1) last out was much better than it looks. Pinned down on the inside on a "sloppy" track and trying a distance new to him he did well to finish third. Working well for this and he can win a Grade 1 today.
2nd pick: #5 (Asiatic Boy) - Has the talent and one of these days he'll break through with a big win in this country. Very accomplished overseas and he's raced well in all three starts in this country without winning. Working fast and trainer Kiaran McLaughlin adds blinkers this afternoon. Has a good shot at a square price.
3rd pick: #2 (Macho Again) - No speed runner almost always makes a big late run and finished second in both the "Whitney" (G1) and "Woodward" (G1) at Saratoga, the latter coming within a "head" of projected "Horse of the Year" Rachel Alexandra. Not much the rider can do but to save ground and hope the pace is fast/contested.
