Top pick: #10 (REDEEMED) - He's one of two entered in this 12 furlong contest by Rick Dutrow and the pair race uncoupled. Three of his six wins have come on this deep surface and don't think this extended trip should be a problem. Colt can be placed just about anywhere and he's the choice in a very contentious field.
2nd pick: #5 (Birdrun) - This is by far his favorite surface (8-3-4-0) and at one time he held the track record here for 1 1/16th miles. He was no match for Redeemed last out, but it was only his 2nd start since finishing second in the Breeder's Cup Marathon(G2) last November. Working fast and a factor today.
3rd pick: #7 (Golden Gulch) - A bit on the cheaper side, however he enters this in career best shape and seems like the type that can run all day. Home-bred by "Thunder Gulch" was a winner here May 9th and looks well-prepared for this marathon by trainer Ed Kenneally.
4th pick: #4 (Eye on Jacob) - Very lightly raced son of "A.P. Indy" ran a career best earlier this year when he won a 9-furlong allowance on the Aqueduct main-track April 18th. Bred to be a good horse and this 12-furlong trip should be in his favor. For those who like his chances, you get the team of Pletcher/Velazquez at a square price.
