Top pick: #6 (FAST FALCON) (7-2) - Colt is still eligible for the 2l condition, but he's back in shape and last year was beaten narrowly in both the (G1) "Travers" and the (G2) "Dwyer." He's the type that can "run all day" and also can be placed just about anywhere in the early stages. I like his chances in this "wide open" affair.
nd pick: #8 (Ruler on Ice) (8-1) - He's back at the scene of his biggest win as this 5-year-old rallied in the mud to win the 2011 "Belmont Stakes" (G1) at this 1 1/2 mile distance. He's been a bit ordinary since, but loves an "off" surface (6-2-2-0) and you already know he can handle this rarely run distance.
rd pick: #4 (Calidoscopio) (5-2) - "Long winded" Argentine import won the "Breeders' Cup Marathon" last Nov. in his North American debut, then raced evenly while wide 5 1/2 months later in his follow up start at the same track. Working fine for this and the distance is not an issue.
th pick: #5 (Percussion) (3-1) - Speedy, in top form, and he's a tough one to get by if allowed to set a leisurely pace. In the Pletcher barn and is dangerous on the front end.
th pick: #7 (Flashy Sunrise) (20-1) - Longshot has gone 6-3-3-0 since returning from a seven week freshening last fall. In career best form and this stalker has a shot at a very big price.
