Top pick: #7 (COME AROUND) (4-1) - Colt stalked, made a solid bid, and leveled off in the final furlong while finishing fourth when debuting at Saratoga Aug. 28. Well backed at the windows that afternoon, trainer Graham Motion brings him back quickly, and I like his chances.
nd pick: #4 (Brother O' Connell) (9-2) - Son of "Giant's Causeway" rallied while wide to check in third at Saratoga Aug. 7 in a fine first outing. Trainer Chris Clement has worked him three times since, and this colt is a win candidate.
rd pick: #6 (Chief Kitten) (9-5) - The probable favorite, he rallied from far back to finish second when debuting in the same Aug. 7 contest as "Brother." Ramsey home bred has a trio of works since, and trainer Chad Brown wins at a 23% rate second time out. Obvious win candidate, but at a short price.
th pick: #1 (Gear Jammer) (6-1) - Colt by "Freud" sold for $150K this past May, and rallied from far back when debuting at Saratoga in a 5.5-furlong grass sprint on Aug. 20. He's worked twice since, and trainer Carlos Martin stretches him out in distance for this attempt.
th pick: #11 (The Prez) (20-1) - He showed good speed before tiring last out at Saratoga and was almost ten lengths back of "Come Around" at the finish. It was his first on the grass, an improved effort, and he draws a nice outside post at this "flat" mile trip.
