Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #8 (CHANTRY FLATS) (2-1) - This 5yo's career turned around when trainer Michelle Nevin added blinkers in late Oct. of 2018. He's gone 6-1-3-1 since then and broke his maiden here at this distance Sept. 28 of last year. Speed/stalker is training steadily, drops in class, and will be tough to beat if ready.
nd pick: #3 (Shootin the Breeze) (5-2) - 4yo by 'Hard Spun' ships from Gulfstream where he had solid excuses in both attempts after returning from 5.5 months on the sidelines March 21. He faced much tougher in each, and this gelding has a valuable recency edge on 'Chantry Flats.' A strong win candidate.
rd pick: #6 (Albie) (8-1) - A very lightly raced state-bred, he has ability, but his six-start career has been highlighted by several layoffs. He is in a claimer for the first time and is a threat if ready in his first since Nov. 3.
th pick: #5 (Big Wonder) (20-1) - Speedy longshot tired badly here sprinting on the dirt June 3. It was his first since Dec. 21. He's back quickly and moves back to the grass, which he clearly prefers. 4yo catches a field without much other pace and will take them as far as he can at a huge price.
th pick: #1 (Reckless Spirit) (12-1) - No speed type has been competitive four of five since switching to the turf. Stalker ships from Florida in good form, has the rail, and is capable of impacting with a clean journey in this large field.
