Top pick: #9 (SPINIT TO WINIT) (4-1) - She's improved since coming off a 7 1/2 month layoff in early April, and daughter of "Hard Spun" finished second here at this level going six furlongs on May 5. Home-bred has worked fast since, moves off the rail, and the extra 1/16th she travels this afternoon is in her favor.
2nd pick: #3 (La Java) (5-1) - Filly by "Medaglia d'Oro" was bet down to favoritism when debuting at Saratoga on Aug. 13 and she tired to finish fourth after chasing a fast pace while racing wide. She's training fast for her return and is a major threat if ready.
3rd pick: #4 (Rosie's Song) (12-1) - The field's lone 4yo, she showed some early speed while racing between runners in the same May 5 race where "Winit" finished second. Filly has worked well since, and at one time trainer Jimmy Jerkens was always dangerous second time out when he had better stock several years ago.
4th pick: #6 (Carla Sweetrevenge) (10-1) - Home-bred went (5-0-2-1) during her 2yo season in 2012, she finished up with a pair of back-to-back big efforts from tough outside posts. Daughter of "Stephen Got Even" faced off against some good fields, and trainer Jeremiah Englehart has her working above average for her return.
