Top pick: #4 (TRULY DEVOTED) - Filly raced wide before maing a failed bid last out racing on the grass here for $20K. Trainer Mike Maker brings her back in three weeks, drops her down in price, and switches her from the turf to the dirt. She's run well on dirt in the past and meets a woeful field in this afternoon's opener. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #5 (Summer Flick) - Stretch-out sprinter has some back class and on April 12th she finished second at Aqueduct racing for $30K. New York-bred raced wide and evenly here facing allowance opposition May 13th and is working fine for this attempt. Clearly the main danger.
3rd pick: #2 (African Jazz) - Claimed in late February by Ed Barker for $7500, filly has been on the sidelines since. Daughter of "Roman Ruler" has some speed and a bullet half-mile breeze May 28th indicates she's doing well.
