Top pick: #6 (ASTRON) (5-2) - He's finished second in two of his last three starts, the latest coming at this tag going 6-furlongs at Aqueduct April 2nd. He was off slowly that afternoon and did well under the circumstances. Trainer Gary Gullo stretches him out a furlong and worked him here April 24.
2nd pick: #1 (Larry Boy) (7-2) - I had 'Larry' as my top pock last week but he 'lost his footing' at the break and tired to finish fourth after rushing up to attend the pace. Trainer Dave Jacobson brings him back quickly, sends him an additional furlong, and grey colt has the rail. A strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #5 (Beatle Boots) (4-1) - Lightly-raced 3-year-old is cutting back in distance and dropping down to this $20K tag for the first time. He finished a distant third going a mile at Aqueduct April 16th and it's nice to see him stringing starts together.
4th pick: #2 (Um Boom Ba Bay) (9-2) - Gelding made up some ground when debuting for twice this claiming price at Laurel March 28th. Well backed that afternoon, trainer Tony Dutrow (24% second time out) adds blinkers (21%), while dropping him down. Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr's presence is duly noted.
