$1 TRIFECTA TICKET 1 / 2-3-4-8 / ALL = $24 CONGRESSIONAL RUN: Upon returning from a long layoff in October this 5yo gelding was entered against the kind of tough allowance and upper level claiming company he had been facing in 2004. Unfortunately, he showed in his first three starts back that he’s no longer able to compete effectively against those kind of runners, so high % trainer Bruce Levine wisely dropped him considerably in class when he returned from a freshening Feb 5. The result was a loss by just a neck to Lucky Gambler, who flattered Congressional Run’s performance by returning to win for a $25,000 tag. Congressional Run’s last two wins came in route races, and Levine stretches him back out today. He draws the good rail and can sit just off the pace.
