Was hung out wide exhibiting surprise speed vs. a fast pace and still continued on well on Jan. 12th. Has had nearly five weeks to recover from that effort. Shows three good works since and now cuts back in distance in second route attempt. Has good tactical speed moving inside for a barn that excels with runners in their second route start.

(# 6) Mariano - Raced wide in two turn debut showing improved speed and running a new pace top. Really had nothing left in the stretch, running evenly late. He could be over the top or might just be a late running sprinter. Either way, looking to take a shot against at unattractive low odds.

(# 7) Chita Tycoon - Improved speed adding blinkers on Dec. 28th chasing a well meant controlling speed who wired the field. Spotty work pattern, a layoff, outside post are negatives.
