Top pick: #6 (GEMOLOGIST) - Undefeated colt by "Tiznow" has done everything asked of him in his four wins and he's also shown that he doesn't necessarily need the lead to run well. WinStar owned and Pletcher trained, he looked super when winning his seasonal debut at Gulfstream going a "flat" mile March 16th and the colt he defeated (Currency Swap) may be favored in the Illinois Derby (G3) later today at Hawthorne. Working fast for this, he's already proven that he can handle two-turns and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #1 (Alpha) - Highly thought of last year, this Godolphin owned son of "Bernardini" has won his first two starts of 2012 over weaker foes, but has done so with ease. Stalker draws the rail and has been training sharply at Palm Meadows for his first race since taking the Withers Stakes (G3) on Feb. 4.
3rd pick: #2 (Casual Trick) - He ran a huge race to finish second to "Reveron" on Jan. 1 in the Gulfstream Park Derby and that clot ran second last Saturday in the Florida Derby (G1) defeating "Union Rags" by a 1/2 length in the process. This son of "Bernardini" has had major problems at the start in his last pair and could impact this afternoon at a big price with a "clean" getaway.
