Top pick: #3 (READY FOR RYE) (5-2) - He ships up from Gulfstream where he ran a career best in the 'Swale' stakes (G2) on March 7th. Gelding rated a bit off the early lead, bid to the lead at the 1/4 pole. then drew off to win by almost three lengths. He stopped the clock for this 7-furlong distance in 1:22.20 and earned himself a triple-digit figure. A repeat of that effort wins this.
2nd pick: #8 (Majestic Affair) (6-1) - Very consistent sort has gone 7-4-2-0, all sprinting on dirt. Stalker draws a nice outside post, is in shape, and has a pair of sharp works since his last race. The presence of Castellano for the first time is duly noted.
3rd pick: #4 (Easy to Say) (20-1) - Longshot was reported to be a runner before his debut at Gulfstream Jan 11. However, he had the misfortune of racing on a very sloppy surface, never a positive for a first-time starter. He chased and weakened to finish fourth to a talented winner ('Materiality'). Freshened up for seven weeks he was an impressive maiden winner on Feb 28. Working fast and a threat at a big price.
4th pick: #6 (Final Chapter) (12-1) - Bred and owned by Hall of Famer John Nerud, this New York bred steps way up in class for this attempt. The 102-year-old Nerud (a training legend )has this 3-year-old in the hands of one of his star pupils (Mike Hushion). May grab a small slice at long odds.
