Top pick: #4 (GEAR JAMMER) (7-2) - Colt has been sharp in all three appearances and last out finished 3rd of 12, beaten 2 1/2 lengths racing at Belmont at this level Oct. 18. trainer Carlos Martin has worked him twice since and adds blinkers for the first time. Speed/stalker is the horse to beat.
nd pick: #7 (Fulmer) (2-1) - The probable favorite, colt broke awkwardly in his debut but rallied to finish a distant secon. Race was at Belmont on Oct. 2 and was at this level and distance. Trainer Chris Clement (20% second time out) has freshened him up for six weeks and has worked him four times since. A strong win candidate.
rd pick: #5 (Memories of Peter) (10-1) - Grey colt is from a very good mid-level owner/breeder (Patty Generazio) and is stretching out in distance in his second start. He was well backed in his sprint debut and raced evenly while wide. Freshened up since that Sept. 1 contest trainer Jim Ryerson has worked him a half-dozen times since and son of "Disco Rico" has a shot at long odds.
th pick: #8 (Pronunciation) (12-1) - He's raced evenly in both starts following "bumping" incidents at the break and probably has more talent than shown. Gelding was 5 1/2 back of "Fulmer" in his latest and can factor this afternoon with a trouble free getaway.
th pick: #1 (Cats Landing) (10-1) - Colt tired in the Belmont slop going a mile on Oct. 24. He set a pressured pace that day and moves back to grass a surface that he ran well on Sept. 14. Has the rail and can be involved from start-to-finish.
