Top pick: #3 (HORATIO) (5-2) - He's burned a lot of cash in his career (8-0-2-4), but speedy gelding by "Posse" may have found the right spot today. He pressed a solid pace and held gamely to finish second on Nov. 20 in his first race in just over four months and looks all set for his maiden win.
2nd pick: #1 (Between the Lines) (5-1) - Home-bred by "Read the Footnotes" raced evenly after being "bumped" at the break when debuting on Oct. 3 at Belmont. Useful effort and he took some betting action that afternoon. Working well for his return, colt draws the rail and is a win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Handy Stan) (4-1) - He had a troubled start and a wide trip when debuting here on Dec. 11 and despite those negatives, he missed by a "head" at odds of 28-1. Capable mid-Atlantic barn (Mark Shuman) brings him back quickly and moves him up in class.
4th pick: #5 (Wood On the Fire) (6-1) - Colt moves up in class in his first off a Dave Donk claim. Speed/stalker has improved lately and is capable of getting a share at a square price.
5th pick: #6 (Shot to Win) (8-1) - Blinkers go on and gelding will be cutting back in distance for this assignment. He's been bet twice in four starts, has some early speed, and must be left in the mix.
