Top pick: #8 (DENZEL) (3-1) - He's one of two California shippers from the barn of Dave Jacobson, and the pair race uncoupled. Colt by "Lion Heart" has already run here twice and last out finished second on Nov. 29 when running for a $35K tag. Barn drops him to a new low and he's much the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #3 (M P Ruckus) (12-1) - He comes off an impressive maiden win on the main-track at this trip just two weeks ago. Speedy sort ran a career best that day and "figure" earned is the best last out of any. Dangerous at a nice price.
3rd pick: #4 (Velvet Cap) (5-1) - Speedy 3-year-old drops to a new low after he "stumbled" and raced evenly last out facing tougher. Lightly-raced and well-bred, he fits with these and is in the win mix with his best.
4th pick: #1 (Under Review) (4-1) - The second of the Jacobson pair, grey colt rallied to finish fourth when facing tougher on the Santa Anita turf going a mile on Oct. 31. Claimed that day by Jacobson, he drops him in price, moves him to the dirt, and shortens him up in distance.
