Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #10 (GRAND BANKS) (7-2) - On the sidelines since late November, filly is working steadily, and has a new trainer (Jeremiah Englehart, 27% with new arrivals). This one run type has been competitive in seven straight starts on the grass and meets a very weak field for this level in her return. It's noted that Jose Ortiz is aboard.
nd pick: #3 (Dr Melfi) (4-1) - The field's only first-time-starter, filly is from a very sharp barn (Danny Gargan), and she breezed a bullet half-mile from the gate at Belmont March 10 (the best of 101 at the distance that a.m.). Barn has won with three of eight (38%) with debuting runners this year, and this home bred by 'Freud' is dangerous today.
rd pick: #1 (Union Patriot) (12-1) - Longshot raced evenly in both grass starts late last year. Daughter of 'Union Rags' is training steadily, has the rail, and may grab a share at a big price.
th pick: #9 (Out of Orbit) (8-1) - Nicely bred filly has some early speed and is taking to the grass for the first time. Home bred by 'Malibu Moon' tired here at this distance on the dirt March 30 and is brought back on a 17 day turnaround. I think she'll be competitive at long odds.
th pick: #7 (Peril) (6-1) - She raced both wide and evenly when debuting at Tampa Bay Downs Feb. 17. Trainer Chris Clement (23% second time out) has her in with fellow New York Breds, and she must be left in the mix.
