Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (MADE FROM LUCKY) (3-1) - He's one of three entered by trainer Todd Pletcher and the trio race as separate betting interests. This one-run type has been freshened up since a disappointing even effort in the $1,000,000 Pennsylvania Derby (G2) Sept 19. He had won two of three prior to that and is working very fast for this assignment. Gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #2 (Ocean Knight) (2-1) - Speedy and lightly raced, he has a tactical edge on this field with his ability to break running. Back in top shape following a 5 1/2 month absence, son of 'Curlin' is a very strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #6 (Tommy Macho) (4-1) - Another from the Pletcher barn, he was almost four lengths in front of 'Made From Lucky' last out in the Pa. Derby. In his previous race he was beaten 10 lengths by that rival. He's working fast and should factor.
4th pick: #7 (Smart Transition) (6-1) - He rallied to win the $100K Curlin Stakes at this distance July 31 at Saratoga. Ambitiously sent into the Travers Stakes next out he tired after racing close up. He's been beaten by 'Tommy Macho' the two times they met, but was only a length behind him July 4 at Belmont.
