He's finished second in all three starts since then, and was beaten a 1/2 length here at this level and distance March 3. A career best, it was his second back from a 6 1/2 month layoff. In shape and trainer Mark Hennig is adding blinkers.
2nd pick: #1 (Championofthenile) (6-5) - The probable favorite, stakes placed colt is working fast for his first race since Oct 17. Son of 'Pioneer of the Nile' cost $840,000 last May and is an obvious win candidate if ready.
3rd pick: #5 (Gehrig) (8-1) - Speedy gelding ran second here at this level and distance Jan 15. In his follow up race Feb 7, he tired after setting a pressured pace while finishing 5 1/2 lengths behind 'Lucky Lurie.' Freshened up since, he's working fine and is a threat at a big price, especially if 'Championofthenile' needs a race.
4th pick: #7 (Aragonite) (10-1) - Improving colt rallied to break his maiden by two lengths racing here at this distance. Working above average since, he'll need a fast and/or contested pace for anything more than a minor award.
