It was his second back off a 7 day break and first off a John Parisella claim. Four-year-old by 'Malibu Moon' has worked fast since and gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #4 (One Sided) (8-5) - The morning line and probable favorite, he's been competitive in every start 7-2-4-1 and was a nose in front of 'Wake Up Malibu.' In shape, from the Pletcher barn, and he's finished second in both attempts at this mile distance.
3rd pick: #5 (Johannesburg Smile) (10-1) - Old timer has banked $545K during his 44-start career. He rallied to finish a non-threatening fourth in the $300K Empire Classic at Belmont Oct 24. Eight-year-old loves this mile trip 10-3-2-4 and is a stretch threat.
4th pick: #7 (This Hard Land) (12-1) - Another grizzled veteran, he's won twice on the main track here in the past and both have come at this one-turn mile. No-speed type will need a fast and/or contested pace for anything more than a minor award.
