Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #4 (HOT SQUAD) (3-1) - Colt is racing first off a Steve Asmussen claim and is moving back up in class. Son of 'Harlan's Holiday' missed by a 1/2 length here racing for a $40,000 claiming price when he changed barns Feb 26. It was his first since Dec 19 and Asmussen has worked him three times since.
2nd pick: #8 (Dark as Midnight) (12-1) - One of six making their debuts, home bred by 'Midnight Lute' has four works showing, all above average breezes at Belmont. Breeder/owner Pat Generazio runs a quality operation that gets in under the radar, but continually sends to the track solid runners.
3rd pick: #7 (At Guard) (5-2) - He ships in from Philadelphia Park where he rallied to finish third when debuting at this level Feb 27 in an abbreviated sprint (5-furlongs). He's worked fast twice at Belmont since then and the additional furlong he travels today is in his favor.
4th pick: #5 (Spring On Curlin) (10-1) - Another of the first-time starters, colt is working steadily and he had a bullet five-furlong breeze at Belmont March 16. He cost $180K as a yearling back in 2014 and can factor at a big price.
