Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (BLACK TIDE) (5-1) - I liked him last time out, but thought he received a poor ride from apprentice Hernandez. Gelding did not have his normal sharp break and he raced wide after catching up to the field. It was his first in two months and trainer Michelle Nevin has leading rider Jose Ortiz aboard. A sharp half-mile breeze at Belmont Feb 26 is another plus.
2nd pick: #8 (David Rocks) (5-2) - The probable favorite, homs bred has been on the sidelines since Oct 23. Speedy sort is working steadily for his return and has been competitive in two of three starts in the past at this level. A threat if ready off the 4.5-month layoff.
3rd pick: #1 (Candid Desire) (6-1) - He chased and gradually weakened to check in third of 10, beaten 4.5-lengths racing at this level going 5.5 furlongs Feb 27. By far a career best, he did so after breaking from a difficult post (10th of 10). He's brought back quickly and moves to the rail.
4th pick: #7 (Pete's Fleet) (12-1) - Longshot pressed a quick pace before tiring to finish three lengths behind 'Candid Desire' here 13 days ago. It was his best overall since coming off a half year's absence Jan 22. Can factor at a big price.
