Top pick: #1 (ROGUE'S JEWEL) - Chased a talented filly that when wire to wire here Dec. 29 at this level and distance in a very small field. Has the rail and only faces one real serious looking challenger and that filly is running for only the 2nd time in a bit over a year. 4-year-old has enough speed to stay close early and try to win this turning for home after saving ground. The top selection.
2nd pick: #5 (Opus A) - Stakes winning filly had no chance here Dec. 9 after a poor break in a sprint at this level in her first start back off a year's layoff. Working fast since and trainer Rick Violette will stretch her out in distance in this spot. Has plenty of talent and can win this if she breaks alertly and filly looks like the main danger to the top pick.
3rd pick: #6 (Amiga Del Sol) - Filly finished a solid third sprinting here at this level two weeks ago and that was her first start back off a 7 week freshening. Barn stretches her out in distance today and they have her spotted for a good try. She's been beaten by "Rogue's Jewel" in the past and will need to do better for anything more than a small slice.
