Top pick: #8 (EVERYDOGHASHISDAY) (3-1) - Gelding has some fine efforts showing and they've all been against state-bred special weights. Last out he set a pressured pace and held until the final furlong when he tired to finish 5th of 10, beaten 4 lengths. Race was his first back off a 70 day freshening and trainer Gary Contessa brings him back in just six days and drops him into a maiden claimer for fellow New York-breds for the first time.
2nd pick: #7 (Beachview Two) (7-2) - Lightly-raced colt hasn't seen action since late Nov. when he raced wide and evenly facing state-bred special weights in an "off the turf" contest. His trainer (Rick Violette Jr) is having a strong meet and has this home-bred working nicely for his return.
3rd pick: #6 (Retired) (7-2) - Gelding has finished second in three straight on this surface and one-run type will have blinkers added by trainer Bruce Brown in an atempt to get him his maiden win. Obvious contender.
4th pick: #2 (Unbridled Ban) (8-1) - Price play has some early speed and last out he offered no rally when asked and finished 7 1/2 back of "Retired." Home-bred can factor at long odds, but really needs to step it up for anything more than a small slice of this.
