Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #9 (WICKED GRIN) (3-1) - Gelding by the fleet'Jimmy Creed' was competitive in both grass sprints at this level during the late summer. He then raced evenly in a pair of 'off the turf' contests in November before going in for almost a five month layoff. He trained at Payson Park in Florida for this return attempt and had a sharp 3 furlong breeze April 12 at Belmont. He has Lasix added and I give him a slight edge.
2nd pick: #2 (Scotty Brown) (2-1) - Grey colt by 'Big Brown' was very sharp in all three grass attempts last summer/fall with all of them being at 8.5 furlongs. Following a pair of poor efforts on the dirt, he's been idle since Dec 30. Working steadily, he shortens up in distance and had Irad Ortiz Jr aboard for the first time.
3rd pick: #4 (Qian B C) (6-1) - He raced evenly when 7 lengths behind 'Wicked Grin' when debuting Aug. 24 at Saratoga. He improved next out when he rallied to finish 3rd at the same level at Belmont Park Sept. 16. In his 2018 finale, gelding raced poorly on the dirt and has been training steadily at Belmont for his first since Sept. 29. Back on the grass, he's a late threat if ready.
4th pick: #1 (Tizanoxbow) (12-1) - Longshot moves up in class while switching from dirt to grass. He rallied to finish second going 5.5 furlongs on the dirt when debuting against $30K state bred claimers March 23. He was 42-1 that day, earned a decent figure, and he may factor right back at another square price.
