Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #8 (PORCH POUNDER) (5-2) - $500,000 gelded son of 'Quality Road' finished a distant second at this level going six furlongs on a muddy surface Feb 25. It was only his second start and his first since debuting in late January at Gulfstream Park. He's worked fast since, draws a nice outside post at this distance, is making back-to-back starts for the first time, and meets a mostly lightly-raced group.
2nd pick: #4 (Governor Bernagini) (5-1) - One of two first-time starters, he was prepared in Florida by trainer Lisa Lewis at the Ocala Training Center. Son of 'Bernardini' breezed at Belmont after shipping north and could factor at a square price if ready.
3rd pick: #6 (Domestic Warrior) (12-1) - NEW gelding has been on the sidelines since early November. Four-year-old ran evenly in all three starts last year and was in against some talented foes. He worked a bullet half-mile March 7 at Belmont that suggests he may return with a competitive effort at a big price.
4th pick: #5 (Justalittlemore) (6-1) - His debut is basically a toss as he was bumped at the break and tired after rushing up in a contest that saw the winner score by 14 1/2 lengths. Trainer Mike Hushion has won with 8 of 17 (47%) second-time starters over the past 15 months and he has Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard.
