Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (QUICK ENTRY) (9-5) - Lightly raced and quick from the gate, this colt is dropping down and shortening up in his first since Sept. 21. Last out at Belmont, he tired to finish 4th after chasing a quick pace going a mile facing $50K starter-allowance foes. He finished 2nd in his previous attempt at this level sprinting Aug. 7 at Saratoga and I think a repeat of that effort will beat these.
2nd pick: #6 (Dr Devera's Way) (7-2) - He broke his maiden going seven furlongs on a sloppy track Sept. 2 at Saratoga, then tired going a mile for a $40K tag on another 'off' surface Oct. 3 at Belmont. Down in price and cutting back to a sprint, he's a serious player in this spot.
3rd pick: #7 (Quest for Fire) (8-1) - Freshened up for almost three months, speed/stalker is dropping back down, switching from grass to dirt, and is racing with blinkers back on after one start without them. Competitive in both sprints on a sloppy surface in the past, this 5yo by 'City Zip' breezed a bullet half-mile Nov. 9.
4th pick: #5 (Our Stormin Norman) (4-1) - 'Norman' finished a solid 3rd sprinting at this distance on the Belmont turf facing similar Sept. 27 in his first race in two months. He had some promise earlier in his career, but his running lines have been highlighted by long layoffs several times. Gelding is capable of factoring with is best.
