Top pick: #6 (SPA CITY FEVER) (3-1) - Veteran is one of two entered by trainer Dave Jacobson and the pair race uncoupled. Speed/stalker enters in shape and draws a nice post at this "flat' (one turn mile). Gelding is 14-4-5-1 at this distance and is 8-2-1-2 on wet surfaces.
2nd pick: #7 (Tenango) (6-1) - The second of the Jacobson pair, he ships in from Delaware where he won a 6-furlong sprint in very fast time (1:08.60). Barn stretches him out in distance and he's won at this trip in the past. Price play.
3rd pick: #3 (Percussion) (2-1) - The probable favorite, stakes winner has carved out a solid career on the dirt 31-5-7-5 as mostly a "second stringer" from the Todd Pletcher barn. Speed/stalker has been freshened up since May 31st and ships up from Florida where he spent the summer/fall at Palm Beach Downs. Training well for his return and gelding has gone 9-2-3-0 on wet surfaces in the past. Major threat if ready with his best.
4th pick: #2 (St Moose) (6-1) - Gelding just missed at this level last out at Belmont and was almost a length better than "Spa City Fever" that afternoon. Strong finisher has worked well since and the faster the pace the better his chances.
