Top pick: #10 (JOHN SILVER) (4-1) - In a good barn (George Weaver), this grey colt by "Silver Wagon" has been freshened up since Sept. 15. He's raced evenly in his first pair and is training nicely for his return.
nd pick: #5 (Private Irving A) (5-1) - Freshened up since late June, he was beaten a 1/2 length the only other time he ran at this tag. Speed/stalker is working steadily and is a strong win candidate.
rd pick: #6 (Ballybrit) (5-1) - His career turned around the day he switched to the turf and he's gone 5-0-2-2 since then. He moves to the dirt today, but is a win candidate if he can repeat his recent grass form.
th pick: #7 (Ed's Magic) (12-1) - Longshot drops and runs off a seven week freshening. He showed some speed two back, then had a very poor start in his latest. Don't just ignore.
th pick: #11 (Giulio Cesari) (6-1) - He showed good early speed and held gamely to get beat a "neck" when debuting at Belmont for a $16K tag on Oct. 12. This field is much tougher and he draws a tough post.
