Top pick: #5 (LAURA'S PATRIOT) (5-1) - Filly raced evenly in her well bet debut in late August at Saratoga. Freshened up since by trainer Gary Gullo, he drops her slightly, and adds blinkers (a solid 27% winning move by the barn).
nd pick: #7 (Harlan's Six) (9-5) - The probable favorite, she rallied from far back to finish a distant second going 6-furlongs at Belmont Oct. 24th. It was her first ever in a claimer, and the extra 1/16th she travels today is in her favor.
rd pick: #10 (Justice Served) (8-1) - She exits the same last race as "Harlan's Six" and rallied to finish third that day 3 1/2 lengths back of that rival. Filly had a tough inside post in a large field on a muddy track and had to wait before swinging out turning for home. Win candidate at a square price.
th pick: #2 (Little G) (6-1) - Grey daughter of "Giacomo" raced evenly after being "bumped" at the start and having a very wide trip at Belmont Oct. 2nd. It was her first ever on conventional dirt after being competitive several times on the Presque Isle Downs "poly."
th pick: #6 (Naughty Grace) (15-1) - Longshot ships up from Gulfstream where she raced evenly at this level Oct. 20th. Daughter of "Yes It's True" has worked well since arriving and is in with fellow state breds for the first time.
