Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (DIXIE RUNNER) (2-1) - The probable favorite, $550,000 son of 'Flatter' ships up from Gulfstream where he's run well in both starts. Colt rallied while wide to finish second of 12, beaten 2.5 lengths when debuting there going six furlongs Jan 2. Stretched out to a mile Jan 30, he held to finish third after setting quick and pressured fractions. Working fast since, trainer Chad Brown sends him here and 3-year-old can get his maiden win this afternoon.
2nd pick: #2 (Big Gillette) (5-2) - Son of 'Big Brown' has been competitive in three straight here at this level and distance. Defeated narrowly Dec 13 and Jan 3, he checked in a distant second Jan 31 to a talented colt named 'My Man Sam.' Effort was further complimented when the third place horse broke his maiden next out.
3rd pick: #6 (Noble and True) (9-2) - The field's only first-time starter, he has some impressive works on view. From the Pletcher barn, he's at a tough distance for his debut and the field drew strong. His best a.m. drill was a bullet half-mile from the gate Feb 18 (best of 78 at the distance that morning).
4th pick: #1 (Master Magician) (8-1) - Son of 'Tiznow' has raced evenly in all three appearances. Colt finished fourth Feb 20 at Gulfstream going a one-turn mile and is making back-to-back starts for the first time. May grab a share at a square price.
