Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (UP WITH THE SUN) (5-2) - Freshened up since Dec. 11th, speedy gelding finished a close up 3rd here at this level and distance Nov. 20th. In his follow up start Dec. 11th he 'veered out' at the break and tired after rushing up. 3yo by 'Lookin At Lucky' meets a weak field, and leading rider Irad Ortiz, Jr. is on him for the third straight time.
2nd pick: #6 (We Did) (7-2) - Lightly raced gelding was competitive when debuting Nov. 21st facing tougher. Given seven weeks off, he tired here at that same level Jan. 9th. Small barn drops him way down in class and gives him a rider up-grade. Very dangerous in this spot.
3rd pick: #2 (Call the Lord) (12-1) - NEW gelding has been tiring badly in every start. Home bred has some early speed and breaks just off the rail. Longshot should be in this turning for home, but needs to do much better from there to the finish.
4th pick: #3 (Whiskey Neat) (3-1) - Lightly raced, he's dropping down after weakening in his debut for a $40K tag. His personal finishing time for the six furlongs was 1:15.20, so he'll need to do better for anything more than a minor award. Certainly a possibility, and his trainer (Linda Rice) is deadly (36%) second time out.
