Top pick: #6 (FRENCHMAN'S BAY) (9-2) - Price play ships from Gulfstream where he finished a solid third, going 8.5-furlongs at this level March 14th. The winner that afternoon came right back to take another. This $360K son of 'Super Saver' is in shape, working well, and gets weight off with hot apprentice Cancel aboard.
2nd pick: #4 (Performance Bonus) (7-2) - Lightly-raced colt rallied to finish second when debuting at Belmont in a 6.5-furlong sprint Oct 25. Sent in for a 100-day layoff, colt chased and tired at this trip Feb 7 at Gulfstream. Trainer Chad Brown has him working both above average and frequently and this $120K purchase is a win candidate.
3rd pick: #5 (Good Pick Nick) (5-1) - Grey son of 'Tapit' ships from Florida where he finished second in a pair of outings at Tampa Bay Downs. The latest of those saw him miss by a 'nose' going 7-furlongs March 7th. The final time was good and he must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #8 (Ackerman Road) (8-1) - Beautifully bred runner has early speed and is from the Pletcher barn. Four-year-old by 'Unbridled's Song" finished a pace-setting second when debuting in October of 2013 at Belmont. However, he did not race again until this past Feb 4 at Gulfstream. Training well since coming back north and his early speed makes him dangerous.
