Top pick: #1 (STAGE NAME) (7-2) - She was claimed in late Sept. at Belmont Park for $25K and has been freshened up since. Owner/trainer Bob Falcone drops her under the purchase price and had her work a bullet 3/8ths on Oct. 29. Her lone win came here at this distance almost a year ago, and she meets a weak field.
2nd pick: #7 (Golden Cheetah) (3-1) - Mare has absolutely no early speed but has finished second in three of her last six starts with a late rally. She catches a very weak group and has the best last out figure of any of these. Strong win candidate and I almost put her on top.
3rd pick: #2 (Lady Halite) (6-1) - Speedy mare is trying for the 12th time to clear this 2l condition. Daughter of "Medaglia d'Oro" just missed last out at Finger Lakes and did so facing a tougher condition (3l). She should be involved most of the way, but needs to do a bit better in the final 1/4 mile.
4th pick: #3 (Bella Fachi) (8-1) - Lightly-raced filly is stretching out off an even effort going 6.5-furlongs in the local slop just seven days ago. Unless she improves significantly a minor award is her ceiling.
