Top pick: #4 (WRATH OF CONG) (20-1) - Longshot had no chance last out after "bobbling" at the break but was going well at the finish and was only 2 1/2 lengths out of the place spot. Trainer Gary Contessa stretches him back out in distance and this field is weak. Has a shot at double-digit odds.
2nd pick: #5 (Proud Day Indeed) (6-5) - The probable heavy favorite, he's been competitive in all his starts (3-0-2-1) and last out finished second at this level and distance. Speedy type has a fine work on Jan. 20 and is an obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #6 (Closing Date) (2-1) - He showed little when debuting here in a sprint when facing special weights on Dec. 13 and he'll get a total makeover for his second attempt. Trainer Nick Canani will drop him into a claimer, stretch him out in distance, and adds both lasix and blinkers. Whatever talent he has (or doesn't have) will be on view this afternoon.
4th pick: #1 (Got a Hunch) (8-1) - Very wide last out sprinting at this tag just eight days ago, he'll stretch back out in distance and draws the rail. He's exchanged decisions with "Proud Day Indeed" the two times they've met and he does have the inside and some early speed.
