Top pick: #2 (ROYAL STRAIGHT) - Big effort last out in his first race back off a 6 1/2 month layoff as he stayed close early, made a strong bid in mid-stretch, and battled on to miss by a neck. He defeated 3 of today's rivals in the process, and a repeat of that performance should be good enough for him to break his maiden.
2nd pick: #6 (Lloydobler) - Chased the pace in his latest and tired in a race that he probably needed badly as it was his first back off a half years absence. Colt ran well on this surface last winter and can contend today at a nice price with a slight move forward.
3rd pick: #5 (The Brush) - Another who probably needed his latest as he was away just under a year. Son of Mr. Greeley was a bit rank in that one and finished a even 3rd 7 1/2 lengths behind Royal Straight. Needs to improve in his 2nd back but he's lightly raced and thats entirely possible.
