Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #2 (TACITUS) (3-1) - He rallied from far back to win the the Tampa Bay Downs Derby (G2) going 8.5 furlongs March 9. It was his first since Nov. 10 when he broke his maiden here at a one-turn mile. A home bred son of 'Tapit,' I give him a slight edge in a very deep field.
nd pick: #5 (Final Jeopardy) (8-1) - This colt is one of two entered by trainer Jay Servis, and the pair race as separate betting interests. A $110K son of 'Street Sense,' he's won two of three, including his latest going a mile facing weaker at Gulfstream Park March 3. That was a very sharp effort and his early speed makes him dangerous at a square price.
rd pick: #10 (Outshine) (6-1) - This son of 'Malibu Moon' rallied from close range and held down the place spot when finishing behind 'Tacitus' in the Tampa Derby March 9. It was his second back following a long layoff, his first around two-turns, and he was working fast at the Palm Beach Downs Center before heading north. One of two from the Pletcher barn, and John Velazquez is aboard.
th pick: #1 (Tax) (9-2) - He has a speed/stalking style and has been competitive in all four starts. He won the G3 Withers Stakes here at this distance Feb. 2 and that makes him the only one in this 11-horse field with a win at nine furlongs. He has a ground saving post and must be left in the mix.
th pick: #6 (Overdeliver) (20-1) - The second of the pair from the Pletcher barn, he's very lightly raced and is attempting a two-turn distance for the first time. He has good early speed, was working fast before shipping, and may be in this a long ways at a big price.
