TO WIN: FUEGO GRANDE In her Jan 19 debut this filly was slow into stride, then seemed to figure things out when she rallied strongly up the rail to miss by just one length. She was racing against a stiff speed bias that day, so the effort was even better than appears, and she gained valuable experience while racing inside of rivals. She was favored when she returned Jan 29, but she had a tough outside post, was bumped at the start, and raced wide most of the way. She made a big middle move in that race before flattening out and may have also had another excuse, as she now adds Lasix. Gets a much better post now.
