Western Michigan says goodbye to coach Bill Cubit and QB Alex Carder. P.J. Fleck at age 32, takes over the program, and he has his hands full replacing Carder at QB. As a result, I think this Western Michigan offense is going to struggle, at the very least early in the season. The one thing they do have is a good defense that returns in large part in tact. The defense is going to have to hold ground until the offense can get firing and in sync. Michigan State loses the nation's third best runner in Le'Veon Bell. QB Andrew Maxwell is now a senior, but his 5.8 yards per attempt is awful, and without Bell in the backfield things could get worse. The one staple that has carried this team is the defense as last season Sparty gave up just 274 yards and 16.3 points per game. The back seven is as competent as any in the country. Michigan State yields little at home where they are 7-1 to the UNDER in their last eight. And, Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio is 25-12 UNDER in his career as a home favorite. Both of these teams will be defensive-reliant early, so play on the UNDER.
