West Virginia vs. Clemson

West Virginia QB Geno Smith has sure taken advantage of the Holgerson offense as he passed for nearly 4,000 yards this season with 25 TDs. But, the offense is 75% pass and 25% run, making it a bit easier to defend. The problem for the Mountaineers is their usual strong defense. It was exposed this season and was hit for big points by some suspect offensive teams. Syracuse hung a 49 on them which was a season high for the Orange, and then Louisville put up 38 on them - also a season high for the Cardinals. Then Rutgers burned them for 31. Clemson certainly has the offense to do a lot of damage here as the Tigers have gone for more than 30 in nine games this season, and 35 or more eight times. The bottom line here is that the Clemson defense has faced better offenses this season and is much better equipped at getting the extra stop or two needed to turn this game into a win. The Mountaineers have struggled over the years vs. ACC teams where they are 5-13 ATS in their last 18, and they have also posted a 10-3 mark to the OVER in their last 13 as a dog. Clemson ran all over Virginia Tech, and following a +200 yard running game they are 8-3 to the OVER in their next game. Take Clemson and play the OVER in this one.
