Western Kentucky at Hawaii

Premium Pick

Western Kentucky won eight of its last nine games in 2021, and it culminated with a 59-38 victory over Appalachian State in the Boca Raton Bowl. The Hilltoppers also started off with a 38-27 win over Austin Peay last week. Of course, the Hilltoppers no longer have QB Bailey Zappe, who's off to the NFL, but they do have Austin Reed, a transfer from West Florida who got the starting job against the Governors and completed 20 of 34 for 279 yards with four touchdowns and one interception while Daewood Davis caught six passes for 124 yards. Western Kentucky has a new defensive coordinator in Tyson Summers, who is installing a more aggressive attack after the Hilltoppers allowed 29 points per game in 2021, and based on Hawaii's performance last week, the stop-unit shouldn't have much trouble as the Rainbow Warriors put up just 10 points while being routed by Vanderbilt. Hawaii has gone UNDER in five of its last seven versus teams with winning records, and the Hilltoppers stayed UNDER by 7.5 points against Austin Peay. Hawaii returns only four starters on offense, and obviously new coach Timmy Chang has a long way to go in rebuilding his offense. The Hilltoppers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 September games, and they have covered six of their past eight games overall. Take Western Kentucky and the UNDER.
