This could be the swan song for Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer. Beamer has had a storied career at Virginia Tech, and his team should come to play hard here as a win gets the Hokies Bowl eligible. They will have to do it against rival Virginia who is off an upset of Duke. Although 4-7 on the season, the Cavaliers have been in most of their games, in fact they are 2-2 in their last four with all of them one-possession games. The biggest mismatch on the field, however, belongs to the Hokies. Virginia Tech is an above average passing team, and the weakest part of the Cavs' defense is in the secondary as they have allowed 8.2 yards per pass attempt to a schedule of teams that combine to average 7.6. That should be the difference maker in this contest, and you also have to give the Hokies the emotional edge to get Beamer to a Bowl game. Take the points on Virginia Tech.
