This has not been the same kind of defensive team as we have seen in Virginia the past few years. The Cavaliers have allowed 29 points or more in all four of their games this season. The good news is that three of those opponents have been Notre Dame, Boise State, and UCLA, and most would agree that Pittsburgh comes up short of those teams. As a result, getting a good read on this Virginia team may lead to false conclusions. The Panthers at 3-1 struggled vs. Youngstown State, winning 45-37, had a tough time vs. Akron, lost to Iowa, and snuck past Virginia Tech by a scant three points. They have managed just 65 total points in their three games vs. FBS teams, and laying better than a TD here could be tough to handle. The Cavs have stiffened up after a poor defensive effort, as they are 5-1 ATS in their last six after getting tagged for 40+ in their previous game. Pitt certainly has not had the Midas touch at home, where they enter at 1-4 ATS in their last five. Grab the points and play on Virginia.
